It is time now please to let John know if you are attending the club’s Quiz/Curry evening at The Pavilion on Friday 24th November. This event is open to guests with the cost £7 to include a curry (veggie option available), plus extras, as well as a free raffle ticket. Club Handicap Events

Congratulations to Sara Wareham, Claire Sollis and Angus Farrelly who each were only two seconds outside their estimated time for the “November” club Handicap event last week. There were 42 participants and the results are posted on the website under “Club Races”. Many thanks to the whole team who organised this exciting and different training activity.

Club XC Thrash

For those into the longer distances and do not mind the mud and hills of the Downs then the club XC Thrash on Sunday 26th November will attract you. It is a 11.5 mile-course starting and finishing at Northgate car park with start time between 8:15 am and 9:00 am. We will publish more details via a dedicated email nearer the time to include a map of the course. It is proposed to hold this event on the last Sunday of each month but subject to not clashing with other club events.

Sussex XC League

Still time (just) to book your place on the club’s minibus for tomorrow (11th) Sussex XC League match at Little Common, Bexhill on Saturday 11th November. To do so contact Tom direct, and not this email address, via tablaylock@btinternet.com.

It is imperative that everyone attending a club training session wears high-viz/reflective clothing and the Leaders reserve the right to exclude anyone not meeting this requirement. This includes those with head torches as your back also requires to be clearly visible to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.

The Leeds Abbey Dash 10k on Sunday 5th November is the largest such road race on the UK Calendar and attracts a high quality field including three from the club namely Chris Bird (142nd – 33.10), Rebecca Moore (205th – 34.17) and Beth Garland (336th – 36.21, a PB). Great running by all three, well done.

Adding to the large number of club members on parade last Sunday a team went up to Horsham to run-round 4.5 miles of Denne Park in the last WSFRL match of the year. As “parkrun” this week occurs on Armistice Day, if you are attending please consider wearing red. It would be great if as many participants, volunteers and spectators as possible create a poppy like field in Oaklands Park to commemorate Remembrance Day. To clarify there will be no silence as this will occur nationally at 11:00 am.

Good luck to everyone running this weekend to include tomorrow’s Sussex XC League match at Bexhill.
