Training/Activities over next week.  

It is imperative that everyone attending a club training session wears high-viz/reflective clothing and the Leaders reserve the right to exclude anyone not meeting this requirement. This includes those with head torches as your back also requires to be clearly visible to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.   

Monday 15th January – Session led by Tom. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.


Monday 15th January – Cake Run Group led by Vikki. Meet at 6:30 pm for a 6:45 pm start at The Pavilion, Chichester College.


Monday 15th January – Week I of Run Chichester Beginner’s Group led by Mark. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College. Good luck to the twenty plus who embark on their challenge to run continuously for 30 minutes at the end of this eight-week course.

Monday 15th January - Running Repair Workshop at 7:40 pm in the club room at The Pavilion, Chichester College. This informal workshop will last about an hour and include the recognition and initial treatment of some of the injuries that may happen whilst running led by Rob Wiggins followed by Chris Benham who will talk about longer term rehabilitation and prevention of the more common running injuries. All welcome to attend this informal workshop including leaders, parents and juniors.

Monday 15th January – NO Stretch Class.


Tuesday 16th January – Training session led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College for a “Kenyan Hill” timed session.


Wednesday 17th January – Training session led by Amanda/Lorna. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College for a jog up to Worcester Road for 5 x 1200m reps with 60/120 seconds static recovery.  


Thursday 18th January – Group run led by Vikki. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College. 


Please note that all training sessions are inclusive to all and members are welcome to change back and forth between groups.



There was PBs and excellent running by our athletes at Lee Valley last weekend. Please refer to the separate report on the club’s website. 

The full results of the Sussex XC Championships held at Bexhill on Saturday 6th January can be found on the Sussex Athletics website. Brilliant running by the whole squad of 45 in challenging conditions with special mention to Liam Dunne (winner of the U15 Boy’s race) second places for Isobel Buckler (U13 Girls) and Olivia Toms (U15 Girls) and third places for Beth Garland in the Senior Women’s race and Fionn O’Murchu (U13 Boys). The medals did not stop there with team gold for our U17 Women and silver for the U13 Girls’ squad. Well done to all 45 and thanks for supporting the club. Justin Eggins finished 10th and first V40 in the Battersea 10k on Saturday 6th January in a time of 37.54.

Sundry Items

Just time to place your entry for the Sussex XC Masters at Lancing Manor on Saturday 20th January but please tell John by next Monday evening at very latest. The entries for the Nationals have been now been submitted and arrangements for this event, Southerns and Masters will be circulated to those entered closer to their respective events.

A reminder that Chichester Tri Club is running a NSPCC Child Protection and Safeguarding course on Monday 12th February at the Westgate from 7:00 pm to 9.30 pm. They have kindly offered to include anyone from our club who is interested in attending that will be especially welcome to any of our coaches/regular helpers who missed the one arranged by us last year. On-line entry is now open for the Sussex Indoor Championships at the David Weir Leisure Centre in Sutton on the weekend 17th -18th February. Entry by individual is via the link: https://entries.opentrack.run/2018/sussex_indoors/. Entries close on 9th February.


Good luck to everyone running this weekend to include the Hampshire XC League tomorrow and on Sunday our juniors in Horsham for a Sports Hall Meeting and for those running in the sold out Stubbington Green 10k.
