Club Quiz/Curry Evening

The next club Quiz/Curry evening is being held at Chichester College on Friday 19th October from 7:15 pm. Remember this evening is very informal, a bit of fun and inexpensive with teams formed on the evening. Please do let John know numbers attending soonest by responding via the CONTACT US icon.  

Training/Activities over next week.  

Monday 15th OctoberSession led by Amanda. Meet 6:30 pm in Room 2 of the Pavilion at Chichester College for Pairs Paarlauf. One runner runs at pace to meet the other runner. Whilst the second runner runs at pace the first runner does a recovery run back to their starting point to meet the second runner continued for 25/30 minutes.  

Monday 15h October – Cake Run Group led by Vikki and the team. Meet at 6:30 pm in Room 2 of the Pavilion at Chichester College for a 6:45 pm start.

 

Monday 15th October – Final week of speed course led by Jenette providing guidance on the benefits of speed work and how to incorporate various types into your training. Meet at 6:30 pm in Room 2 of the Pavilion at Chichester College.

 

Tuesday 16th OctoberSession led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm in Room 2 of the Pavilion at Chichester College for a Kenyan Hill session (2 x 15 minutes).

 

Wednesday 17th October Session led by Amanda. Meet 6:30 pm in Room 2 of the Pavilion at Chichester College for a series of circuits.

 

Thursday 18th October Group run led by Vikki. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.  

 

Results

Sunday 7th October proved a popular day for entering events.

We will not list the 50 plus runners from the club in the Chichester Half, 10-miler and relay but well done to everyone with many PBs’. 

Three runners tackled the Bournemouth Marathon enjoying both the scenery and friendly environment namely Jenny Dodd (5.22.27), Helen Wilkins (5.49.10) and Lucy Howard (5.56.18). 

Lucy Hilton finished overall in 11th place but first female in the Clarendon Marathon clocking 3.23.24. Lucy reports a well organised and friendly event in beautiful scenery between Salisbury and Winchester and recommends the event to others.

It was Jersey for Richard Miles who competed their marathon in 3.27.27 in 65th place.

Emily Bye finished the Cardiff Half Marathon in 4005th place in an PB time of 1.50.50.  

Brighton held a ten miler that included Chris Bird (10th – 54.07) and Justin Eggins (51st – 62.01).       

Miscellaneous Notices

Early notice that the club’s AGM is being held at Chichester College on Monday 19th November at 7:45 pm.

We are sorry for those of you who were unsuccessful in the ballot for the 2019 London Marathon. It is likely that the club will receive one club place. A reminder that to be considered for the ballot (at AGM) for this place you must have been unsuccessful for 2019 event and have a current England Athletics registration. 

Carrying on the theme of England Athletics registration please note if not having a current registration you will not be able to enter as a club member the Chichester 10k next February. As always do contact John for more information in this respect.

Please spread the word that the next Chichester Run England Beginners’ Course will start on Monday 29th October. Mark Ring is managing this course.  

The TADWORTH 10 race is held at Epsom Downs Racecourse, Surrey with their 37th running of this event scheduled for Sunday 6th January 2019. Entries are now open, and they have early bird prices available until the end of October. (£18 for affiliated runners). Entries can be found at: https://register.primoevents.com/ps/event/Tadworth10

Good luck to everyone running this weekend to include tomorrow the Sussex XC Relay Championships at Goodwood and the WSFRL match at Lindfield on Sunday.  

NOTES

 

It is imperative that everyone attending a club training session wears high-viz/reflective clothing and the Leaders reserve the right to exclude anyone not meeting this requirement. This includes those with head torches as your back also requires to be clearly visible to drivers, cyclists and pedestrians alike.

Also, please be aware and respectful of pedestrians and other users of the pathway, especially when running in groups. Thank you all for your support in this regard.
