The results for the last Sussex XC League match of the season at Bexhill on Saturday 9th February 2019 are on the Sussex Athletics website.

Special note should be made of Liam Dunne who finished second in the U17 men race leading home the team also to a second place. Alice Cox-Rusbridge finished second in the U20 event, whilst it was third for Leo Stallard also in the U20 age category. The U20s’, plus V50 Paul Stallard, helped the club to sixth team place and retention in the top Division again for 2020.

On the series overall, we must applaud Ned Potter who achieved a bronze medal in the U17 men category. In the U20 Women category Alice Cox-Rusbridge brilliantly won the series followed home in third place by Rachel Laurie.

Chris Bird and Justin Eggins flew over to Spain last weekend for the Barcelona Half Marathon. Chris finished in 77th place clocking 1.09.23, whilst it was 588th place for Justin in a time of 1.20.17. Excellent running chaps with both attaining PBs’ for this distance.

Nearer to home the Worthing Half Marathon attracted six from the club namely Seth Wise (37th – 1.22.20), Marcus Hammerton (209th – 1.35.14), Kate Stillwell (401st – 1.43.39), Colin Enticknap (402nd – 1.43.39), Nadia Anderson (409th – 1.43.48) and Paul Ford (473rd – 1.46.00).

Report from David Churcher - Two Chichester Runners & AC`s athletes were at the Cambridge Harriers Indoor Open Meeting held at the superb newly opened Sutcliffe Park Indoor Athletics Centre in South East London on Monday 4th February 2019.

Fleur Hollyer (U17) set a sparkling new PB in the 60m with a good drive and pickup phase from the start stopping the clock at 8.36s, which is also well inside the national standard entry qualifying time for the England Indoor Championships in Sheffield later this month.

Rachel Laurie (U20) having missed all last season due to foot surgery, and now back focusing all her training on the 200m and 400m made an impromptu last-minute decision to compete in the 60m and was rewarded with a very pleasing time of 8.54s just 0.2 off her PB of two years ago.
