Midsummer 5

The Midsummer Five is a Chichester Runners Club Event on the evening of Wednesday 21st June Run and therefore we require as much support as possible from our members. Yes of course we would love you to run but if you are injured, taking some time out or have a couple of hours to spare next Wednesday then please get in touch with either:

Peter Anderson -  nadandpeter@btinternet.com

David Barty - barty472@talktalk.net

John Betts - chichesterrunners@googlemail.com

Graham Jessop - grahamjessop@btinternet.com

There are still a variety of positions we wish to cover including leading a group of marshals, marshalling, working in the finish area, riding your bicycle around the course or serving drinks at the end of the race. These are all important tasks and need to be undertaken if we are to have a successful event. Please, please volunteer.

West Sussex Fun Run League (WSFRL)

It was more quality than quantity for the club at Hove Park last Sunday for the latest match in the WSFRL. This event that attracted a field of 379 runners is a mad dash of 5k around the perimeter of the park with the weather as usual for this event hot and dry. The club finished in fourteenth place with 60 points earned by Graham Woodward (18th – 18.49), Tony Cooley (112th – 22.28), Tom Blaylock (125th – 22.35), Amanda Godfrey (148th – 23.20), Nadia Anderson (153rd- 23.36), Peter Anderson (232nd – 26.07), Jill Renson (241st – 26.32) and Sue Baker (253rd – 27.32).

Future WSFRL matches are arriving thick and fast with the Downland Dash at Burgess Hill on Saturday 24th June followed with the Roundhill Romp (at Steyning) on Wednesday 5th July and the Beach Run (at Littlehampton) on Wednesday 12th July. As always pre-book your entry (only £3) with Jill Renson via 07904 186704. Let’s be having you!

PS:

No trail run on the 21st June with the Midsummer 5 Road Race being hosted by the club. Thanks Gary for laying the trail last Wednesday.

Good luck to everyone running this weekend to include the South Downs Marathon on Saturday and the SAL match at Winchester on Sunday. Please do let John have a note of your runs.
