Chichester Corporate & Schools Championships


We were blessed with excellent conditions last Wednesday for the first event of the Corporate/Schools Challenge series with a record entry of over 900 runners across all races.

 

Many thanks to Phil, Mark, Jill and all the team who arranged the event and to the many of you who assisted so brilliantly on the evening. The only drawback for your outstanding support is a request for a repeat please on Wednesday 13th March.

 

Runners please remember to retain your number and anyone who ran the “B” race in under 18 minutes must run next time in the “A” race. The results will be published on this website shortly.

  

Training/Activities for next 7 days.  

Monday 4th MarchFor all sessions meet in Clubroom 2, The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Foundation Group – Meet at 6:30 pm for a 6:45 pm start with on offer a variety of sessions working on improving general running. Third week of a six-week schedule led by Vicky and the team.

Circuits – Meet at 6:30 pm for a 6:45 pm start for week 3 of a six-week circuit course led by Mark based at the college on the grass area working on core, strength, balance agility and general fitness. 

Development Group – Meet at 6:30 pm for a prompt start for a Tom’s “Pyramid of Happiness” i.e. Run for 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, 1 minutes fast with a minute jog recovery  led by Amanda.

Stretch Class Week 7 of course in the upstairs gym room at the Chichester College from 7:45 pm. Duration one hour.  

 

Helen Wilkins is having a cake sale after training on Monday raising money for CLIC Sargent (as part of her London Marathon fundraising). Please kindly bring some money to training for a donation to this good cause and, of course, in exchange for some cake.

Tuesday 5th March Meet in Clubroom 2, The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Event Group - Meet 6:30 pm for two times two-mile repeat with 5 minutes jog recovery led by Keith.

 

Wednesday 6th March – Meet in Clubroom 2, The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Development Group – Meet at 6:30 pm for a prompt start for a jog up to Little Breach for 500m hill reps with jog back recovery for 30 minutes led by Amanda.

Thursday 7th March – see below.

 

Club Winter Handicap Event No. 6. Meet from 6:00 pm outside the front of Chichester College with start time between 6:15 pm and 6:45 pm. The course is just over four miles.    

 

Physical Preparation Session

The next circuits’ session at the New Park Centre is on Sunday 10th March at 11:00 am. To book your place please contact Amanda direct via amandagodfrey@btinternet.com. Please see the attachment for an idea of the session. There will be an optional three-mile cool-down run afterwards.

Miscellaneous Notices (including Results)

Congratulations to Helen Dean following her fine showing at the Chichester 10k has been invited to join the English Ladies Masters’ Team. Well done and richly deserved honour for Helen.

For those into throwing please note that Brighton and Hove AC are holding a Throws Open on Sunday, March 10th at Withdean, Brighton. For more information and to enter, go to https://entries.opentrack.run/2019/bhaac_throws/

Graham Woodward and Marcus Hammerton flew the flag for the club in the Brighton Half Marathon last Sunday. Graham finished in 179th place clocking 1.25.51 whilst it was 663rd (1.37.19) for Marcus.

Jenny Jakeman finished fifth lady in the Slindon Slog on Sunday 17th February. She reports a very challenging 10 miles but in lovely scenery. The full results have not yet been published.

It was fifth team for the three gents competing in the Bramley 20 miler on Sunday 17th February. Chris Bird finished second (1.53.33), followed home by Justin Eggins (31st – 2.10.33) and Jon McElhill (223rd – 2.36.18).  

Good luck to everyone running this weekend to include a number who are involved in half marathons at different locations.
