Training/Activities over next week. 

Monday 23rd July – Session led by Tom/Amanda/Lorna. Meet 6:30 pm outside the “Cricket” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Monday 23rd July – Cake Run Group led by Vikki. Meet at 6:30 pm for a 6:45 pm start outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park. Please note that due to a shortage of Leaders this evening, plus being the final week of the Beginners’ Group, only a group run will be on offer. All are welcome to join Tom’s Group instead.    

Monday 23rd July – Final week of Run England Beginners’ Group led by Mark. Meet at 6:30 pm outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park. Good luck to all as you take your challenge of 30 minutes continuous running.

Tuesday 24th July – Training session led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm at the Cricket Pavilion, on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Wednesday 25th July – Final week of Run England Beginners’ Group led by Mark. Meet at 6:30 pm outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Wednesday 25th July – Summer Trail Run laid by Jan. Meet Goodwood Triangle car park anytime between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm for a laid trail run. From Chichester proceed up Dog Kennel Hill to the Goodwood Horse Racing Course and after passing the main entrance at sharp left-hand bend turn right into the car park. Jan is laying two trails of 7.6 and 5.0 miles respectively. All runners run at own risk and must report in and out to the Trail Run Organiser. 

Thursday 26th July – Group run led by Vikki. Meet 6:30 pm at Lavant Green with picnic afterwards.

Thursday 26th July – Ad hoc session led by Amanda. Meet 6:30 pm at Bishop Luffa School playing fields. 

Results
There was at least 470 people not in front of their TV sets watching England’s demise in the Football World Cup on Wednesday 11th July as races at Brighton and Liphook still went ahead.

In the Phoenix 10k, Rebecca Moore finished 32nd (second lady) in a time of 37.09 whilst it was 151st (45.17) for Marcus Hammerton. James Baker won the challenging off-road Gibbett Hill saying hello to the timekeeper again after 10k 35.35 minutes later.

A reminder about the Goodwood Hill Climb 5-mile event on Monday 6th August with a one-mile junior race at 6:00 pm and with the main race starting at 7:00 pm. For entry and event details click on https://www.goodwood.com/estate/health-club/upcoming-events/5-mile-run-2018/.

Entries are now open for the Sussex 10k Championships being held on Sunday 26th August at 5:00 pm, at the K2 Stadium, Crawley. The event is taking place at the end of Crawley's Tom Lintern Medal Meeting. Athletes can enter (Cost £5.50) via https://entries.opentrack.run/2018/sussex10k/ with closing date the 22nd August.

Entries are now also open for the Sussex 3K Events being held from 3.20 pm at the K2, Crawley, on Sunday 2nd September. This is for U15 girls, U15 boys, U17 boys, U17 men, U20 men and Senior Men. Entry cost is £5.50 with them closing on Wednesday 29th August 29. Enter via https://entries.opentrack.run/2018/sussex3k/

Entries have also opened for the Sussex AA Combined Events, Steeplechase and Walks Championships being held across the weekend of 8th/9th September at the David Weir Leisure Centre Carshalton, SM5 1SL. A reminder that the entry cost for the WSFRL fixtures is only £3 with pre-entry just a click away. Peter Anderson (tele: 07786 036820 or email: nadandpeter@btinternet.com) is the person to contact in respect of running for the club in the next three matches at Henfield (Seven Stiles) on Sunday 29th July, at Worthing (Highdown Hike) on Wednesday 1st August and at Hove (Hornets Stinger) on Sunday 19th August.

Good luck to everyone running this week to include our juniors at Kingston for a Youth Development League match and on Wednesday the fourth race in the Lakeside 5k series.
