Chichester Junior parkrun


We are sure all who have tried it will consider parkrun to be a complete revelation for the running community but of course it requires their band of volunteers. Currently Chichester junior parkrun on Sunday mornings at Priory Park require more volunteers including Event Directors. If you are interested in any respect, please use the CONTACT US icon and we can send you a job specification and pass your name on to Mike Houston who is the local parkrun Ambassador. 

Sussex XC Relays at Goodwood

Please note that due to reasons outside of the club’s control the Sussex XC Relay Championships scheduled for Saturday 29th September at Goodwood Country Park have been cancelled. The good news is that they are re-scheduled for Saturday 13th October with Match 1 of the Sussex XC being put on hold.

The event starts at 12 noon with the U13s followed by the U15’s at 12:45 pm, Senior Women (including U17 and veterans) at 1:30 pm and finally the Senior Men (including U17 and veterans) at 2:30 pm. The senior lap is 4k with teams of three for all apart for Senior Men, V40 Men and V50 Men who need teams of four. Entry fee payable on the day is £4. Ideally all runners should attend one hour prior to race time for allocation of team(s). Club vest must be worn. 

We do require to know the names of those proposing to run in advance in this exciting and enjoyable team fixture. Please either use the CONTACT US icon or contact Phil Baker direct via philbaker5@btinternet.com. Likewise, all offers of help on the day please in similar fashion please.   

Winter Handicap

The Winter Handicap re-starts on Thursday 4th October from Chichester College with an exciting new course. A copy of the route will be published on this website shortly and some of the training groups beforehand will use their session for familiarisation purposes.   

Training/Activities over next week.  

Monday 24th SeptemberSession led by Amanda/Tom. Meet 6:30 pm outside the “Cricket” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Monday 24th September – Cake Run Group led by Vikki and the team. Meet at 6:30 pm for a 6:45 pm start outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

 

Monday 24th September – Week 3 of Stretch Class in the upstairs gym room at the Chichester College from 7:45 pm. Duration one hour. 

 

Monday 24th September – Week 3 of speed course led by Jenette providing guidance on the benefits of speed work and how to incorporate various types into your training. Meet at 6:30 pm outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

 

Tuesday 25th SeptemberTraining session led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm at the Cricket Pavilion, on the top part of Oaklands Park. The session will be a run around the new winter handicap route with a few hill reps and fast bits thrown in for fun!

 

Wednesday 26th September Trail Run managed by John. Meet in Sheepwash Lane, Lavant (road off the green on the opposite side to the Village Hall) anytime between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm for a run along the water meadows and Centurion Way. Directions will be given for the potential of three routes from three, five and seven miles and John will have maps available for those unsure of the area. Please do book in and out as normal. There was 35 in attendance last Wednesday with the majority enjoying the bracing wind around the “Trundle” loop!

 

Thursday 27th September Group run led by Vikki. Meet 6:30 pm at the Tesco (Fishbourne) car park.  

 

Results

Carol Palmer was first V65 lady in the Hursley 10k on Sunday 16th September clocking a very respectable 65.14. 

The Goodwood Racing Grand Prix on Sunday 16th September included races from 5k to the full marathon distance around the Motor Racing Circuit. Club names were scarce in the results so sorry if missed anyone but noted running in the 10k were Kevin Williams, David Knowles, Tracy Skinner, Jeremy Harrison and Johanna Harrison, whilst Richard Woolston went further by tacking the half.

The Event Organisers of the Running Festival at Goodwood on Sunday 14th October are offering a Ronhill technical t-shirt, an event cap and free race entry to all volunteers. The volunteer can either pass on the free place to a friend to run this year or save it for next year for themselves. If anyone is interested email them on info@ukrunchat.co.uk. Please remember the club is hosting the Sussex XC Relays at Goodwood the day before.

Please spread the word that the next Chichester Run England Beginners’ Course will start on Monday 29th October. 

Good luck to everyone running this week to include on Sunday the WSFRL fixture at Tilgate (Crawley) where there is entry on the day. Remember also that many routes around the area will be closed due to the Velo South Cycle Ride based at Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit.
