Training

Saturday 23rd September – A one-hour session to include intervals for both juniors and seniors led by Phil Baker at Oaklands Park from 2:00 pm.

 

Monday 25th September - Session led by Tom. Meet 6:30 pm at Oaklands Park by cricket pavilion on top part of park just down from Rugby Club.

 

Monday 25th September - Cake Run Group led by Vicky. Meet 6:30 pm (for a 6:45 pm start) at Oaklands Park by Rugby Club on top part of park.

Monday 25th September – Stretch Class (Week 4) with Debz at Chichester College at 7:45 pm.

Monday 25th September – Beginners’ Course (Week 3) led by Mark Ring. Meet 6:30 pm at Oaklands Park by Rugby Club on top part of the park.

Tuesday 26th September - Session led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm at Oaklands Park by cricket pavilion on top part of park just down from Rugby Club.

Wednesday 27th September – Group run led by Lesley from Lavant with meet at 6:00 pm in Sheepwash Road, Lavant. 

Wednesday 27th September - Beginners’ Course (Week 3) led by Mark Ring. Meet 6:30 pm at Oaklands Park by Rugby Club on top part of the park.

Thursday 28th September – Evening Run led by Vicky. Meet 6:30 pm at the Lavant Memorial Hall.  

 

Please note that all training sessions are inclusive to all and members are welcome to change back and forth between groups.

 

Results

Crawley beckoned on Sunday 17th September for 367 runners including ten from the club for the Tilgate 5 as part of the WSFRL. Our battling band collected 65 points with a very creditable eleventh team place. The contingent was Graham Woodward (22nd – 35.01), Jan Hill (99th – 43.45), Amanda Godfrey (100th – 43.46), Nadia Anderson (117th – 44.58), Tom Blaylock (153rd – 47.04), Kevin Batt (157th – 47.30), Peter Anderson (188th – 50.24), Sandra Nemorin-Noel (208th – 53.00), Sue Baker (210th – 53.06) and Vikki Bennett (279th – 62.38). Excellent running by everyone.

 

Also on Sunday 17th September two juniors and one senior tackled the Butser Hill Fell Run with each brilliantly being first in their age category. Joe McLarnon in the Year 8 race, Harry Sage in the Year 11 race and James Baker in the Senior race with a time of 32.05.

 

Forthcoming Races

Seaford Striders are once again holding their challenging Mince Pie 10 miler, a multi terrain run, on Sunday 10th December commencing at 11.00 am. The start and finish is the Peacehaven Leisure Centre. Check out the Seaford Striders website for full information and please note that this race has been sold out early in the last few years.

For Ladies only it is the Worthing seafront on Saturday 2nd December at 10:00 am for the Christmas Cracker 10k and 5k runs. All information is available from the Worthing Running Sisters’ website.

Remember the club is looking for a good turnout both un respect of running and/or helping at the Sussex XC Relays at Goodwood on Saturday 30th September.

 

Jill via 07904 186704 would like to hear from those who are intending to run the Hickstead Gallop on Sunday 8th October, the Steepdown Challenge on Sunday 29th October and the Gunpowder Plot (Horsham) on the 5th November.

 

Good luck to everyone running this week to include on Sunday the Barnes Green Half and 10k.
