Trail Runs

The summer season of trail runs came to rest on Wednesday, and we must thank Peter Shaw who put the calendar together and all those who laid a trail. Over the 24 trails there were 1320 attendances by 209 individuals with an average of 55 attending each one ranging from 26 to 81. There were four attendees who managed at least twenty runs, whilst Alan signed in and out for every trail.

Due to its success and obvious enjoyment (if that is the right word!) the club has decided to hold six ad hoc laid trails during the winter on Sunday mornings with start time between 11:00 am and 11:30 am. There will be a contingency arrangement in place in case of bad weather and these events are open to “Summer Only” members. The timetable is as follows:

24th November – Selhurst Park (David Barty).

15th December – Charlton Mill (Jan Hill).

29th December – Stoughton Woods (Tony Cooley).

12th January – Dukes Road, Slindon (Karen Miles).

16th February – Goodwood Triangle (Peter Shaw).

1st March – Boxgrove (Jeremy Harrison).

It was tenth place with 89 points for our team who travelled the longish distance to Crawley on Sunday 22nd September for the Saints and Sinners Tilgate 5. This event around the delightful Tilgate Forest with the base the K2 attracted 374 runners on a wet morning. Tim Brown led the club home in 73rd place clocking 40.28 followed by Nadia Anderson (93rd – 41.46), Elizabeth Robinson (111th – 42.54), Tom Blaylock (122nd – 43.52), Amanda Godfrey (131st – 44.21), Jan Hill (134th – 44.32), Wim Amir (142nd – 45.13), Tony Cooley (148th – 45.37), Kevin Batt (165th – 46.59), Peter Dunne (184th – 48.18), Jeremy Harrison (190th – 48.44), Nic Jolly (191st – 48.48), Sue Baker (194th – 49.01), Peter Shaw (211st – 50.16), Peter Anderson (229th – 52.50), Jill Renson (235th – 53.43), 252nd Martin Fryer (252nd – 55.55) and Johanna Harrison ((287th – 60.56). Excellent running by everyone and thanks for supporting the club.

Apologises that we missed Wendy Whelan from the Rewell Woods 10k results, especially as Wendy finished first V70 in a time of 1.16.30.

The “Goodwood” Circuit was the place for a Running Grand Prix on Sunday 22nd September,  Helen Tupsy completed the 20 miles event in an excellent time of 2.57.26. It was the Half Marathon for Geoff Dixon (20th – 1.37.37) and the 10k for Angie Dixon (8th Female & 2nd V45 but more importantly a time of 60.10 being a staggering PB by over three minutes).

Training/Activities for next 7 days.
