Sussex XC League

Just two weeks after tomorrow’s relays there is a return to Goodwood on Saturday 14th October for the first match of the Sussex XC League. This time it is just turn up and register individually on the day. Cost only £4. The schedule starts at 12 noon with the U11 race with the ladies meeting the starter at 14:05 followed by the men at 14.35. In the finish tunnel, you will be given a token in race finish order and then you will need to register with your age category Team Manager. Club vests must be worn. Training (Two Weeks)

Change of venue for Winter Season to Chichester College. For those new to the club the meet is The Pavilion on the south side of the Campus adjacent to the Sports Hall and aeroplane fuselage. The club has a room for you to leave belongings whilst out but we suggest you do not leave valuables as room not locked. Changing with showers is available free of charge in the Sports Hall. Please be aware that the College did introduce a modest car parking charge for the evening, although recently the machines have been marked as “suspended”!

It is imperative that everyone attending a club training session wears high-viz/reflective clothing and the Leaders reserve the right to exclude anyone not meeting this requirement.

Monday 2nd October - Cake Run Group led by Vicky. Meet 6:30 pm (for a 6:45 pm start) at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Monday 2nd October – Stretch Class (Week 5) with Debz at Chichester College at 7:45 pm.

Monday 2nd October – Beginners’ Course (Week 4) led by Mark Ring. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Tuesday 3rd October - Session led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Wednesday 4th October – Session led by Amanda/Lorna. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College for 200m run/150m recovery reps for 30 minutes continuous.

Wednesday 4th October - Beginners’ Course (Week 4) led by Mark Ring. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Thursday 5th October – Club Handicap Event. Meet at The Pavilion, Chichester College from 6:00 pm with last start at 7:00 pm.  

 

Saturday 7th October – A one-hour session to include intervals for both juniors and seniors led by Phil Baker at Oaklands Park from 2:00 pm.

 

Monday 9th October - Session led by Tom. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

 

Monday 9th October - Cake Run Group led by Vicky. Meet 6:30 pm (for a 6:45 pm start) at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Monday 9th October – NO Stretch Class. 

Monday 9th October – Beginners’ Course (Week 5) led by Mark Ring. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Tuesday 10th October - Session led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Wednesday 11th October – Session led by Amanda/Lorna. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College for a jog up the City Centre for 5 X 1k reps around the CCC Circuit with two minutes static recovery.

Wednesday 11th October - Beginners’ Course (Week 5) led by Mark Ring. Meet 6:30 pm at The Pavilion, Chichester College.

Thursday 12th October – Thursday run with Vicky. Meet 6:30 pm at Tesco (Fishbourne) car park.

 

Please note that all training sessions are inclusive to all and members are welcome to change back and forth between groups.

 

Results

The only results submitted related to the Barns Green Half Marathon. James Baker finished in fifth place in a time of 1.14.03 followed home by Chris Bird (9th – 1.18.48), Justin Eggins (70th – 1.28.52), Lynette Woodward (773rd – 2.08.09) and Richard Woolston (1123rd – 2.58.25). Great running by everyone.   

 

Forthcoming Races

The popular Eastleigh 10k is on Sunday 18th March 2018. Click on www.runningmania.co.uk for full details and entry process. This event is always sold out well in advance.

 

Epsom Downs is the base for an enjoyable 10-miler (two laps) over mixed terrain on Sunday 7th January 2018. More details can be found on www.sportssystems.co.uk.

Jill via 07904 186704 would like to hear from those who are intending to run the Hickstead Gallop on Sunday 8th October, the Steepdown Challenge on Sunday 29th October and the Gunpowder Plot (Horsham) on the 5th November.

 

There a couple of important duties not covered within the officials’ team for the combined Chichester Half, 10-miler and Relay on Sunday 8th October. If you can help please contact Graham via grahamjessop@btinternet.com. 

 

Good luck to everyone running over the next two weeks to include Goodwood tomorrow, Jersey Marathon on Sunday and the following Sunday (8th) the above-mentioned Chichester Half and Hickstead Gallop.
