Charity Trail Run – Message from Lucy Hilton

“A huge thank you to everyone that supported the trail run on 30th December. Between us we raised £301.27 in cash for Parkinson's UK, which is fantastic. In addition, a few people said they would like to donate on line. I will transfer the cash amount to my just giving site. This is the link for those that wanted it: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/lucy-hilton8

Thank you again for showing up and for being so generous in your support. See you in late March when the trail runs start! Happy New Year.”

Excellent support by everyone and thanks to Lucy for organising this flour run.

Chichester (Goodwood) 10k – Message from Graham Jessop

“We already have over 1000 entries for the 10K road race on Sunday 3rd February so to avoid disappointment get your entries in soon and suggest within next week as race limit cannot be extended.

The event requires some more volunteers, especially a recorder to work on the finish line with John Jones taking the times of the first 50 men and approximately 30 women. We also would like two or three people to work with me on the start and finish areas. In addition, if anyone is free on the Saturday afternoon between 3.30 and 5.30 pm volunteers are needed to hump barriers around to erect the finish area.”

If anyone can help, please contact Graham direct on grahamjessop@btinternet.com.

Results

On the Sunday before Xmas Vicky Balandis went the 13.1 miles along the coastline between Portsmouth and Hayling and then the 13.1 miles back again in the annual Portsmouth Coastal Marathon event. Vicky finished in 456th place in a great time of 4.29.30.

The first match of the WSFRL 2019 season started on New Year’s Day with the Hangover 5 at Hill Barn, Worthing. The route is a lap of the Sports Field followed by a steady incline onto the Downs and a speedy downhill watching the golfers looking in the undergrowth for their “lost” balls! This “open” event attracted 466 runners. The club finished in 12th place with a total of 83 points. Our contingent (in WSFRL order) was Marcus Hammerton (93rd – 40.52), Helen Dean (103rd – 41.35), Nadia Anderson (137th – 43.49), Jan Hill (143rd – 44.08), Tom Blaylock (155th – 44.51), Tracy Lockyear (192nd – 47.58), Ellen Perry (199th – 48.17), Peter Shaw (244th – 51.01), Nicola Jolly (250th – 51.40), Leon Perry (261st – 53.07), Sue Baker (264th – 53.16), Peter Anderson (279th – 54.49), Amanda Godfrey (282nd – 55.07) and Sandra Nemorin-Noel (288th – 55.52).
