Goodwood

Many thanks to all those who supported the club last Saturday at Goodwood for the XC Relays either by helping or running and by many in dual roles. The results are on the Sussex Athletics website.

We want you again on Saturday 12th October please as the club hosts, again at Goodwood, the first match of the Sussex XC League. This time it is turn up and enter on the day. A great day out and XC, whilst challenging, really does improve both endurance and speed with every ability welcome as more runners means points for the club.

Please check out the X-Country page and Calendar on this website for the full event arrangements. If you have not already done so, please offer to help either by telling Phil Baker or responding via the Contact Us button.

England Athletics

We have just been informed that the England Athletics affiliation and registration fees for 2020-21 will be as follows with EA comments:

“Club and member body affiliation fee will remain at £150 per club. We will next review this position in September 2020 ahead of 1st April 2021.

Athlete registration fee will increase by £1 to £16 per person. This fee has remained unchanged since 2017-18 and we feel that this increase, as the focus on this occasion, is the right one to make.”

Winchester Half – Report by Jo Brinning

“I had a feeling the Winchester Half would be a hilly but had no idea I would be climbing 1243ft, most of which was at the beginning!  Never before have I waited to start a race with a large umbrella, but I was very grateful to the infamous ‘Pop Up’ Trevor who is always so organised and provided shelter. As I went up the hills, the rains came down and were relentless for most of the run but nevertheless, another race finished in a time of 2:02 and whilst it was not a PB, not a bad time with a whopping climb and the battering rain!”

Thanks for the report Jo and well done in such conditions.
