Running Repairs Workshop.

A Running Repair Workshop will take place after training on Monday 15th January in the club room at the Sports Pavilion, Chichester College. It will start at 7.40 pm and will last about an hour. It is a very informal workshop where we will discuss the recognition and initial treatment of some of the injuries that may happen whilst running. This will be led by Rob Wiggins. This will be followed by Chris Benham who will talk about longer term rehabilitation and prevention of the more common running injuries. All are welcome to attend and participate in this informal workshop, runners, leaders, parents, juniors and seniors.

Sundry Items

On New Year’s Day 365 brave souls lined up for the start at Hill Barn for the Hangover Revisited, a five-mile extravaganza of mud, water and slippery chalk paths as the last WSFRL fixture of the 2017 season. Our team of 12 gained an impressive 83 points in eleventh team place. Well done to Graham Woodward, Kevin McGreal, Derry Lozano-Hoyland, Kevin Lockyear, Jan Hill, Amanda Godfrey, Tony Cooley, Tracy Lockyear, Peter Shaw, Jill Renson, Sue Baker and Tom Blaylock who gallantly walked/jogged the course due to a thigh injury.

A reminder that Chichester Tri Club is running a NSPCC Child Protection and Safeguarding course on Monday 12th February at the Westgate from 7:00 pm to 9.30 pm. They have kindly offered to include anyone from our club who is interested in attending that will be especially welcome to any of our coaches/regular helpers who missed the one arranged by us last year. Please contact Hele Dean direct via helen39dean@yahoo.co.uk for more details and if you are interested in attending.

Mike has mentioned that the brilliant sum of £170 was raised from last week’s Trail Run that will be donated with gift aid to Mel’s “Let Me Be Me” campaign. We should ask Mark to share with us the recipe for his delicious orange based punch!

Mark Ring is leading the next Run Chichester Beginners’ Group from Monday 15th January 2018 at the Chichester College so please widely publicise the course with relatives, friends and work colleagues. For more details and to sign up contact Mark via markring775389@aol.com.

Sorry for several members who woke up on New Year Eve to find that the Twixmas 10k at Porchester had fallen foul of the poor weather. No such concern for the 20 plus who ventured out on the club’s “Three Peaks” Thrash starting in lashing rain but reasonably pleasant towards the top of the Trundle where we shared Happy New Year bonhomie with a group from Tone Zone Runners. The mud on the climb to Stoke Clump was for many a good training exercise for the XC events to come, as was the Chichester parkrun on New Year’s Day, brilliant!

Subscriptions have started to arrive and a reminder it is easy to do so by using the renewal icon on the home page of the club’s website. If anyone prefers to pay by other means than card do contact John please. John will acknowledge each payment via email.

Thanks to Helen we understand that the Selsey 10k will not run this year that will be a big blow to many of us who enjoy this “March” stretch of legs down on the peninsula.

Sussex AA have accepted an invitation to field male and female relay teams in the Essex 20-mile road race over an undulating 3 lap course around quiet country lanes of north east Essex, starting and finishing at Langham Village Hall, Langham, at 10:00am on Sunday 4th March 2018. This is for the elite among you and if anyone is interested in applying for a place please contact John and he will pass on the details.

A note for the diary that the club’s Presentation Dinner/Dance will be held at Crouchers on Saturday 14th April. More details to be circulated in due course.

An excellent turn out for the Club Handicap last night. The results will in due course be posted on Facebook and this website. Thanks as ever to the organising team.

Good luck to everyone running this weekend, especially at Bexhill tomorrow and over the weekend at the Southern Indoor U15 and U17 Championships at Lee Valley.
