Newsletter 6th July 2018

Training/Activities over next week. 

Monday 9th July – Session led by Tom/Amanda. Meet 6:30 pm outside the “Cricket” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Monday 9th July – Cake Run Group led by Vikki. Meet at 6:30 pm for a 6:45 pm start outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Monday 9th July – Week 11 of Stretch Class with Debz at 7:45 pm in the Fitness Room on second floor of the Sport’s Hall at Chichester College. 

Monday 9th July – Week 6 of Run England Beginners’ Group led by Mark. Meet at 6:30 pm outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Tuesday 10th July – Training session led by Keith. Meet 6:30 pm at the Cricket Pavilion, on the top part of Oaklands Park.
Wednesday 11th July – Week 6 of Run England Beginners’ Group led by Mark. Meet at 6:30 pm outside the “Rugby Club” pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park.

Wednesday 11th July – Summer Trail Run laid by Guy. Meet Stoughton Woods Forestry Commission car park (SU815127) anytime between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm for a laid trail run. From the Northgate Roundabout take the B2178 (Funtington Road) and go through East Ashling and when reaching Funtington turn right just past the public house. Go down to the bottom and at t-junction turn right and after about a mile turn right signed Walderton & Stoughton. Once past through both villages at the sharp left-hand bend the Forestry Commission car park is on the right. Distance seven miles maximum with a shorter option of around 4 miles offered by Guy. All runners run at own risk and must report in and out to the Trail Run Organiser. 

Thursday 12th July – Group run led by Vikki. Meet 6:30 pm in the car park for the Chichester Marina (off the Birdham Road).

Thursday 12th July – Ad hoc session led by Amanda. Meet 6:30 pm at Bishop Luffa School.

Notices
The “McGreals” popped up to Elstead On Wednesday 27th June for Kevin and Daniel to do the 5.5-mile mixed terrain race. On a rather warm evening the race was run on road, trail and sand and at one point included a dunk in the River Wey, which had to be crossed to get to the finish! Kev finished in 40th place in a time of 39.38 whilst it was 131st position for Dan reaching the finish line in 46.26.  (46.26). There were 371 runners.

The Basingstoke Half Marathon on Sunday 7th October is mainly a rural setting through some lovely countryside on closed roads. For details and entry click on www.basingstokehalfmarathon.com.
