Epic and inspiring runs by Matt Fewtrell and Paul Ford on Sunday 28th July as they completed the gruelling 117k Chiltern Challenge in a brilliant time of 15 hours 51 minutes. Awesome achievement lads and we trust that you are recovering well.

Six from the club competed in the hilly Harting Trail 10 on Sunday 4th August that attracted 197 runners. James Baker won the race in a time of 57.41 followed home by Rob Stapely (58th – 1.21.12), Tony Cooley (80th – 1.25.24), Vicky Balandis (83rd – 1.27.00), Gillian Brown (174th – 1.53.54) and Wendy Whelan (192nd – 2.05.11). Excellent running by all.

The Regent Park Summer 10k (part of  a series of races) included Jo Prosser (96th and first V50 – 49.33) and Jayne MacDonald (257th – 61.16). Great running ladies.

Final session of three led by England Elite Coach Tom Craggs -  Meet at 6:15 pm outside the Rugby Club pavilion on the top part of Oaklands Park (car park entrance off Wellington Road). One and half hour session for Leaders and everyone within the club who competitively runs 10k or has the ambition to do so. The aim is to identify and implement training techniques to improve and current speed is not an issue as everyone welcome. Please can those attending the session wear some form of “Club” clothing.  

Stretch Class Thirteenth week of course in the upstairs gym room (Studio) at the Chichester College from 8:00 pm. Duration one hour.

Event Group - Meet at 6:30 pm for a prompt start by the pavilion for the cricket pitch on the top part of Oaklands Park (car parking off Wellington Road). A session of 12 x 60 seconds hill reps with 90 seconds recovery.


Wednesday 14th August – see below.   


Trail laid by Paul with meet at Stoughton Woods Forestry Commission car park (SU815127) anytime between 4:30 pm and 6:30 pm for a laid trail. From the Northgate Roundabout take the B1278 (Funtington Road) and go through East Ashling and when reaching Funtington turn right just past the public house. Go down to the bottom and at t-junction turn right and after about a mile turn right signed Walderton & Stoughton. Once past through both villages at the sharp left-hand bend the Forestry Commission car park is on the right. Distance no more than seven miles but with options to short-cut. All participants run at own risk and must report in and out to the Trail Organiser.

Club run led by Vicky suitable for all abilities with meet 6:30 pm in the car park for the Lavant Village Memorial Hall.


Track session at Bishop Luffa School starting at 6.30pm led by Amanda. It will be based on 200m x 4 reps, followed by 400 x 2 reps and then 200m x 4 reps.



A reminder that the final Southern Athletics League fixture of the season for seniors, veterans, U20 and U17 men and women is at Swindon on Saturday 17th August. Chichester parkrun has asked the club to thank those members who donated last Saturday a variety of goods for the local Foodbank. A large supply of goods was delivered to the Foodbank on Monday.
