Phil Baker

Phil Baker

Junior Coach

One of the founding members Chichester Runners and a leading light on the Sussex Athletics scene for many years. Phil is still very active as a junior coach and team manager and can often be seen in Oaklands Park, either leading training or signing up promising runners.

Will Broom

Will Broom

Run Leader

Will joined Chichester Runners as a junior and, like many others, was coached by Phil Baker. He enjoys some impressive PBs on the track, but most importantly, he never misses an opportunity to remind you of his Year 5 Corporate Challenge record. After spending some time abroad, Will returned to Chichester, where he began coaching the older junior group. You can usually spot him at cross-country races wearing an orange hat.

Jo Corbett

Jo Corbett

Coaching Assistant

Jo has been part of Chichester Runners for over 30 years, joining the club in 1994. For many years, he was a keen middle-distance runner, but more recently he has moved on to longer distances and even the occasional marathon—though he still steers clear of cross country! Over this time, Jo has had the privilege of learning from some outstanding coaches and athletes. He now looks forward to sharing that knowledge with junior athletes, helping them enjoy the sport and make the most of their talent.

Helen Dean

Gemma Corbett

Gemma Corbett

Coaching Assistant

Gemma has always been a keen runner, regularly representing her school in cross country and on the track. In more recent years, she has competed on the roads, preferring flat 10k’s, half marathons and marathons over anything that involves mud! Gemma has coached adults for many years but with decades of primary teaching experience, would now love to use her skills and knowledge to encourage junior athletes.

Returning to the region in 2016 he rejoined the club to help coach Junior athletes. A UKA Licensed Coach with Throws speciality. He is now the Junior Coaching Co-ordinator, and can still be found in a corner of the fields at Bishop Luffa making large holes in the rugby pitch!
